Just so you don't jump down my throat and call me an idiot I will tell you that I can and have gotten ilok to work and even have it right now so I can use h-comp.

Rock solid, great support and better sounding eq and compression than any Waves crap.

IK support don't care and suggest buying a new version.īuy yourself a Softube Console One. UAD are also crap for support when things go bad as are IK Multimedia who have changed hosts for their activation system meaning I can't now install older versions of T-Racks or Miroslav because it can't locate the server to activate. Software companies with their virtual kit hide behind release updates which brick the system and then demand you buy a new version. If I buy a physical compressor or eq and it stops working the manufacturer or distributor will repair it. Projects without Waves plugs worked fine.įollowing posts of similar reports on forums I ended up uninstalling the bundle and installing a cracked version which worked and was way more stable just so I can access my mixes again and finish the project I was on before removing all trace of Waves junk from my workstation. Their response was buy a newer version of Cubase! Regardless it had worked fine for months and one day stopped they refused to assist. I had an issue having bought gold pack where it stopped initialising in my version of Cubase preventing projects loading. (I know less about Soundtoys' company philosophy than the other two, but their products suggest a minimum level of passion for what they do.) I've seen talk of other companies not being great behind the scenes one way or another, but I've never seen it manifest across the board the way I feel it does with Waves.Įdit: I guess beside product quality, I feel like Waves is capitalism done wrong, centered on greed, whereas the approach of the other companies I listed are capitalism done right - an attempt to get fair compensation for something well engineered and created out of a desire to bring better music to the world. I don't know of another existing plugin company with as much of a purely corporate approach as Waves, combined with how little they seem to care about the user experience in various ways outside the plugins themselves. I really admire their work from a design perspective as well.) (Shout-out to Cytomic, u-he, and Soundtoys, to name a few companies that seem to really care about the things they create and whose products I use in almost everything I make where said products have a use case. (I didn't know about Manson but that's beside the point.) I have plenty of plugin companies that I happily support and a few I recommend buying so often I worry whether I come across as a shill sometimes.
